Teaching Old Buildings New Tricks

↑ Watch the building proposal video Strawscraper: Urban Wind Farm.

This is what it looks when you transform a dehumanized cityscape into a re-humanized one. It’s alive! Alive. Using piezoelectric technology, a large number of thin straws can produce electricity through small movements generated by the wind. The result is a new kind of wind power plant, opening new possibilities for how buildings can produce energy. With the help of this technique, surfaces on both old and new buildings can be transformed. We can think of at least one Left Coast building that would be better looking if it were covered in undulating piezoelectric feelers. Bonus: Electricity.
