Adjacent communities can have a 15 year difference in life expectancy. The causes are rooted in segregation and, in California, Proposition 13.

Is the solution to simply be one of the winners who lives in the right zip code? No.

It turns out everyone who lives in a society with great inequality dies younger than those who live where inquality is less extreme.
