In this video, Kate Raworth, economist and senior visiting research associate at Oxford University’s Environmental Change Institute, explains why wealth cannot be achieved by national economies that are aimed only at growth. As it turns out, Simon Kuznets, the man who helped develop the GNP system for Congress in the 1930s, knew this all along. He warned:

“The wealth of a nation can scarcely be inferred from a measure of its national income.”
